Pleasant Stone Devotional Meditation: October 29

“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” ~ Hebrews 12L2a

This emerald clear fragment of “green stone” sets me [Eugenia Price, the author] praising more each time I think on it. And I find myself thinking on it more and more, as the days turn into other days, filled sometimes with new confusion and new heartaches and new conflicts.

I find this “green stone” truth coming, seemingly of its own accord, when the old confusions return. Coming to clarify me.

God doesn’t always clarify things for us at once. Sometimes we need the felt-darkness around us in order to be freshly reminded that He is in that too. He does not always clarify things for us. But He will always clarify us, if we turn to Him. And there is no other way to turn to God except by “looking unto Jesus.”

Everything is here in the few words of this “green stone” verse. The way to salvation is here but also the way to victorious living is here. All in this one small fragment: “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” He began it, why do we refuse to let Him finish it?

An author begins a thing. He began new life by placing a seed of His life in yours. We stop there and struggle through the years. And wring our hands and our hearts in needless anxiety for growth and peace, when all he time God has reminded us that He is the “finisher.” He began it, let Him finish it!

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
