Pleasant Stone Devotional Meditation: April 4

"And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them saying, All hail" ~ Matthew 28:9a

Go quickly, and tell ... And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them saying, O joy! The literal translation of the words we know most familiarly as "all hail" is really "O joy!"  My [Eugenia Price, the author] own heart leaped up when I first learned this. After three days and nights of a darkness we cannot comprehend, after completely and vorever overthrownd death and having broken the power of sin over His creations, Jesus Himself, was overflowing with His own joy.

In His great heart of love was sheer joy that He had been able to do what He had done to conquer the ghastly killer, sin, in His dear ones.  How can we comprehend love like His?  How can we bear it? It is too sweet to bear consciously and keep on sinning. This is one way He broke the power of sin for us. Let His love become real to you. Realize that "salvation is equal to the fall"! Know that what Christ did can fill you wiht joy too, if you begin to take part in it. Jesus, going up to His grief-stricken, harried disciples that first morning, could say nothing but, "O joy!" His heart was singing too. He had made a way out of futility for those He had created. And now He would be with them forever.  He couldn't say anything but, "O joy!" His joy is complete somehow when He is with us.

"Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, to be with me where I am ..."
