Pleasant Stone Devotional Meditation: December 8

“And all the people saw him walking and praising God” ~ Acts 3:9

This facet of this “many-colored pleasant stone” from yesterday, must be examined alone. It is more than a witness to a physical healing. It concerns the healing of any condition. This man’s healing was complete and the reason was that he was not willing to be a “special case” any longer. He jumped up and began doing what the others were doing. He dared to believe that something had happened. There must have been a long moment of seemingly nothing. But then “his feet and ankle bones received strength.”

Jesus told Paul that His strength was made perfect in weakness. Paul didn’t wait to feel the strength. He acted on what he knew was there because Christ was there. How many of us who have known this Christ through year upon year, still wait for a feeling!

If we do, then no-one ever sees us “walking and praising God.” The only way to find out if God has done something is for us to begin walking. And a courteous warning is shaded into this “many-colored” fragment at the top of this page, when the Holy Spirit reminds us, through this exciting story, that the people see us no, matter what we’re doing. “And all the people saw him walking and praising God.” When “the people” see our walk, do they see us “praising God” in it?

“Go ye into all the world … ye are witnesses of these things.”
