Pleasant Stone Devotional Meditation August 7

“They looked unto him, and were lightened; and their faces were not ashamed” ~ Psalm 34:5
ANYTHING about us which we have not acquired of our own free wills, and which causes others to turn to look at us, causes suffering of an indescribable nature.

We “stick out” from among our fellow human beings like “society’s sore thumb” and we suffer bitterly. This is understandable. The more people look at us, the more we are twisted in upon ourselves. We become ingrown and moody and resentful.

God knows this. He knows what happens in your heart every time you “catch” someone trying not to look at you. The same thing happens in His Heart for you. He is ever with you in all of it. With you, urging and wooing you to Himself. Urging and wooing you to look at Him. To look away from yourself to the One who loves you so intensely that His own Heart aches with yours in humiliation.

I [Eugenia Price, the author] cannot tell you how He frees us from this humiliation. His ways cannot be explained. But I can plead with you to look long into the depths of the “purple stone” at the top of this page. And I can beg you to allow your long-looking into that verse, to cause you to look at Jesus. Look at Him. Look at Him.

“They looked unto him, and were lightened; and their faces were not ashamed … looking unto Jesus …"
