Pleasant Stone Devotional Meditation: December 12

"He took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham … In all things it behooved him to make like unto his bretheren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in all things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people” ~ Hebrews 2:16, 17

Jesus did not come to earth to save angels. “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” And only people are sinners. All people. “There is none righteous, no not one.” And if you think that is an unpleasant thought to be suggesting at the Christmas season, perhaps we had better go into the glory side of it.

The glory side is simply this: until we realize in a personal way that we have sinned, that God visited this earth to save us individually, we will miss all there is in store for His own. You are not His personally until you give yourself to Him personally. He won’t grab you.

I [Eugenia Price, the author] was not His, until in repentance I gave myself to Him. But seeing our need for a Saviour, we can rejoice that “he took not on him the nature of angels.” We can rejoice that God became perfectly human in Jesus of Nazareth. We can rejoice because this has directly to do with us. Being God, He saw that “in all things” He had to become like us. Even though God created us and knows us, still His heart prompted Him to come down here and find out just what it feels like to be one of us. To become “personal” with us. He retained His divinity, but He did become perfectly human.

“… That he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.”
