Pleasant Stone Devotional Meditation: June 14

Note:  Still playing catch up, my apologies.

"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" ~ Philippians 4:7
Too often we try to keep our own hearts and minds in a peaceful condition. Quite naturally, we usually fail. The key is in the phrase "quite naturally." We are trying to do it by natural means.  Human hearts and minds, always sensitive to pain and humiliation and scorn, cannot keep themselves peaceful.  Hey must be kept.

And they must be kept supernaturally by God Himself. This "blue stone" verse assures us that "the peace of God" will keep our hearts and minds. God's peace is God Himself. He can no more be unpeaceful than He can be other than Himself. "In all our afflictions, he is afflicted." He feels our pain and experiences our heartache, but He knows what He is about! Suffering with us does not cause God to lose peace. "For he is our peace ..." (Ephesians 2:14). He knows His ultimate plan. And we are told in this "blue stone" verse that our hearts and minds are to be kept "in Christ Jesus." This is peace forever. Not only because one day "at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow" but because He Himself is "the beginning and the end."

"For he is our peace ... (and) he has said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
