Pleasant Stone Devotional Meditation: May 25

"For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death" ~ Romans 8:2
Here is another "blue stone" verse which could easily be a "green stone" victory verse. And yet, I [Eugenia Price, the author] chose to put it here because my own faith leans against it so often.

Our "blue stone" verses open the way to a steady faith. If we open ourselves to them, we will begin to see that the law of faith is as absolute and as dependable as the law of gravity. That very analogy has helped me greatly here.

"For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." Sin is a down pull. Gravity is a down pull toward the center of the earth. Both are dependable. No-one likes to think of sin as being "dependable" but it is! "Who shall deliver me from the ... law of sin and death? What can break the law of sin in me?  The down pull?

"There is therefore now no condemnation ... For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath" broken down the pull of sin. Sin is a powerful law. But the "law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus" is more powerful. He overcame sin on the Cross. The power to break the law of sin has been let loose in the world and it is ours for the taking and for the using. When you lift your arm, you overcome the law of gravity by the higher law of life in your body. Power to lift your arm. Choose not to use that power and your arm fails, obedient to the law of gravity once more. Choose to use the power of Christ in you and you are free from the law of  "sin and death."

"... God sending His own Son ... condemned sin ...[and] if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you ... if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."
