Pause for Prayer this Memorial Day

O God our heavenly Father, Creator and Preserver of all humankind, we give you thanks and praise for all your goodness and mercy. We thank you for all those who in all times have been brave and true, for those who served their country in her hour of need, especially those who gave even their lives. Accept our gratitude and make us, we beseech you, more worthy of their supreme sacrifice. May we devise our Memorial Ways with the firm foundation of an abiding faith in you, that your kingdom may come and your will be done. Amen.

“When they [the American soldiers] came, they found fit comrades for their courage and their devotion.... Joining hands with them, the men of America gave the greatest of all gifts, the gift of life and the gift of spirit.” ~Woodrow Wilson

I was shocked that this week a major new network commentator "felt uncomfortable" descibing our service men and women as "heros".  I have no hesitation.  Every one who has served is a hero.  God bless and keep you.  May He guide, uphold and sustain you today and for all eternity.Thank you for your service.
