Pleasant Stone Devotional Meditation: February 29

"Wherefore seeing we are also compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith..." ~ Hebrews 12:1, 2
Seeing that there are two thousand years of "witnesses" to prove that the indwelling life of Christ works even in the "tight places", we really have no excuse at all not to let it work for us too. This is the last "clear stone" we will share together for now, and I [Eugenia Price, the author] have chosen it purposely as the last. It too, "cuts right through" to leave no question marks as to what we are to do in order to know the peace and the continuous victory of the "life hid with Christ in God". Quite simply God lets us know that He knows about all those particular "besetting sins" of ours, and quite simply He tells us to lay them aside. All of them. Every sin is a weight, holding us earth-bound. We are already seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, and again we "limit the Holy One" if we do not choose to lay aside the weights so that we can run! We are also told that we must "run with patience the race that is set before us". These are not idle words. If you see someone is getting ahead of you, just keep running --- with patience. No need to flare at that person. Impatience is simply lack of love. We are to run with patience. If someone else is ahead, that's all right. It doesn't change Jesus Christ. And if we have "laid aside every weight" and if we are running that is our part. The rest is up to God. And God will take care of the end of the race, providing we are looking unto Jesus! If our eyes are fixed on Him, we don't know who is winning the race anyway. We are just on our way toward Him. And nothing ever changes Him.
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."
